Hi, I’m Michelle Isla. I’m a proud mama to one amazing girl born in Nov 2006. I live in downtown Orlando where I teach Birthing From Within® classes at the Florida School of Holistic Living. My classes offer families an opportunity to prepare to birth-in-awareness in any setting and through any situation. It is an approach that beautifully integrates mind, body, and spirit. In addition to being a Birthing From Within® mentor I am also a certified doula and certified lactation counselor. It is my goal and intention to honor your experience and help you prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for this transition.
In addition, I enjoy planning and facilitating Blessingway ceremonies to honor a mother-to-be as she prepares to transition into motherhood. I also enjoy exploring my creative side through the traditional art of henna (mehndi). I love helping women celebrate their expanding feminine bodies by decorating their bellies with henna. This ritual makes a beautiful addition to a Blessingway ceremony or baby shower.
Through the last few years I’ve provided lactation counseling for the WIC program of the Seminole County Health Dept. I’ve also had the opportunity to be on the board of this awesome organization, the Central Florida Birth Network, for the last 3 years. And lastly, I was honored to be invited to present an educational panel on childbirth preparation at last year’s La Leche League conference. I am always looking for ways to grow both professionally and personally. I am deeply dedicated to my spiritual awakening and through appreciation and love creating a space that supports others’ awakening too.

I am happy to offer private in-home childbirth classes if the location and scheduled dates don’t work for you. I also offer clients in-home lactation counseling so there is no need to travel anywhere with your newborn baby to get breastfeeding assistance. As a doula I attend births in any setting including hospital, birthing center, and at home. I am also available for postpartum doula support to ease and support your transition.
